Sailfit Charter Policies
Charter clients will need to sign a charter contract that includes the
following policies.
- SAILFIT Inc. warrants our yachts to be in reasonable condition
for the purpose of practice sailing or racing at the start of the
charter period. SAILFIT makes no guarantee of said yacht's continued
fitness during the contract period.
- A damage deposit of $300.00 is required to execute the charter contract.
This deposit is returned upon contract completion, after final inspection.
A preliminary inspection by SAILFIT and the lessee is made at the
commencement of the contract to determine pre-existing damage or conditions
for which the lessee shall not be responsible. The lessee agrees to
assume full responsibility for the yacht during the period of the
charter contract regardless of the cause of damage. The lessee also
agrees to reimburse SAILFIT for any damage beyond reasonable wear
and tear. Damage includes, but is not limited to: Bent or broken upper
spar, lower spar, or boom. Cracked or punctured hull or deck. Cracked
or broken center-board, rudder, tiller or extension. Cause of damage
includes, but is not limited to, collision, weather conditions, or
misuse.
- The minimum charge for collision damage is: $300 (0 to 4 inches),
$600 (5 to 7 inches), $900 (8 to 10 inches). Over 10 inches in damage
the lessee purchases the boat at fair market value. If insurance is
purchased the cost equals fair market value minus the amount of repair
cost insurance ($300).
- SAILFIT is not responsible for any sailing equipment or accessories
provided by the lessee for use with our yachts.
- The lessee warrants that he/she has sufficient knowledge, experience
and skill to properly operate the yacht listed above. The lessee undertakes
this contract at his/her own risk with full awareness of the inherent
dangers of sailing and sailboat racing. The lessee further agrees
to indemnify SAILFIT for any personal injury sustained, or caused
to any other person, while operating said yacht.
