SailFit is pleased to continue to teach Laser sailors from beginner through advanced. With our many years of experience we have plenty of information to share and many new ideas and “secrets” that you will learn only from us. Our teaching style focuses on individual improvement no matter what level of sailor you are. If you are a beginner you will be working more on your large scale ability to handle the boat properly in a variety of drills and sailing conditions. If you are an advanced sailor, more on your technique, style and feel to improve your speed and recognize changes in the sailing conditions and tactical situations. SailFit specializes in Lasers, but we also teach sailors in Sunfish, 420, Snipe, 2.4Mr and many others.
Sailing in Clearwater is phenomenal because our weather and water is warm and the breezes are good most times of the year. Summer time is generally lighter but the sailing and training are still excellent. We have the option of Sailing on Clearwater Bay or open water Gulf of Mexico sailing. The location and conditions are among the best available in the United States.

SailFit Seminars are great learning and great fun for beginner and advanced sailors! We teach you all the sailing and fitness secrets to perform at your best! Each seminar group is normally 6 to 12 sailors and we focus mostly on boat handling skills. We also learn strategy, tactics and sail many races. Plus, we learn fitness and nutrition for sailing. The location and sailing waters are beautiful and we have the option of protected bay or open water Gulf sailing. Water temperatures normally range from 65 to 85 degrees. Training sessions by SailFit are customized to your specific needs and sailing level. Whether it is leaning how to rig your boat or get off the start line better, we can help. The sessions are available for beginner through advanced individuals and groups. Depending on skill level, we sail from 1.5 to 4 hours plus briefing time before and discussion/ video review after. The cost for training is $150 to $375 per day. Training with Kurt is an extremely effective method for improvement. Whether you are a beginner or advanced sailor, your direct improvement from the training is immediate and your understanding for further improvement is clear. All your questions about boat handling, speed and racing are answered!
Regatta Coaching focuses on pre-race preparation, on the water tune-up, race strategy and development of tactics. We provide morning and evening briefing and debriefing sessions to review performance and make any changes needed to improve your performance. You will learn what is most important in each area of a race and what to focus on. This will help you to stay clear-headed and rise to your best level of performance. Each sailor participating in SAILFIT's regatta coaching program receives a Strengths and Weaknesses report. Coaching is available at most events on our schedule.
SailFit Youth Laser Team focuses on fun and improvement of our speed and racing skills. Our team has beginner to advanced sailors and we foster a positive attitude for learning. Come and check us out for a day and see what we are about! We also accomodate out of state sailors with additional advanced practices and regatta coaching. SailFit Home School Team focuses on learning how to sail and marine activities/ education. We sail a variety of boats and focus on learning the basics for fun and safety. We also learn about sailboat racing. Ages 6 and up are welcome. We generally do 2 to 3 month modules to give a variety of sailing and education. Some example modules are match racing, dinghy sailing/ racing in Prams or Lasers and catamaran sailing/ island hopping. Fun Sail is scheduled once or twice a month. We sail catamarans, prams and Lasers and have paddle boards and Kyacks to try out. Fun sail is open to anyone that wants to see what sailing is all about. It is a blast! The cost is $10 for each child or youth participant, parents are free. Liability waivers must be signed. Bring water shoes and sun protection.
